We have a 5 year old Whippet called Alfie. For the past 12 months he has had a cough on and off. We have been backwards and forwards to the vets each time we are given a different "possible" diagnosis. We have been told that although his symptoms are very similar to severe bronchitis he's too young (even though his x ray showed what one of the vets said could be a small spot of bronchitis!) Currently he is on antibiotics but he is also going through his worst couching spell to date. He constantly coughs up mucus, has nasal discharge and laboured breathing. His breath smells metallic and today's mucus is bright yellow! We are desperate to help him stop coughing especially as we are getting married in 4 days and he was due to go into kennels (for the first time) but a friend has offered to have him. In the short term we need a quick cure so that he doesn't ruin her carpet and are we are also seeking advice as to a more permenant cure in the long term.
