Newly Developed Aggression? HELP!!!

He has seen this man before, so I am not sure what his deal was. And most recently he snaps and growls horribly at people that come over. I am very scared that he will bite someone. He is very loveing and good natured with my husband and I and other family members that he sees more often...Yesterday he snapped at my sister-in-law and another person (whom he had enver met prior). He has never done this until recently and I do not know what has caused it. I have read on the net that it could be from seizures, thyroid problems, etc....He seems fine. Eats, sleeps and poops well. ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!! I do not want to lose my dog because he attacked someone!!! "I GOT A POOL FOR JOEY'S JELLO!"

Posts: 0 (02/20/04 00:31:30) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	this has not been an uncommon thing at my work..we have had several dogs that have suddenly become aggressive, for no apparent reason..one thought is that is a little brain "seizure"...several dogs have been put on phenobarbitol (which is typically used in pets with seizures)..it seems to help subdue this aggressive behavior..on several occasions people have brought their dog in to be euthanized because of aggressiveness,and we began them on phenobarb..and they say they are like a whole new dog..in two instances in which the dogs were already on this medication (one in fact a cocker) still were aggressive and attacked their owners..one lady had to get stitches all across her face..she still loved the dog and as a last resort we pulled out all 4 of his k9 teeth..as for the cocker spaniel, we did the same and the owner said he is like a new dog..she says he doesnt even growl anymore..to some this may seem extreme, but it is better than death, and they seem to bounce back just fine..of course i would try medication first.. GOOD LUCK!!
