You can't really tell until they are at least four weeks pregnant there will be a slight swelling when you feel her abdomen almost like a full stomach, this is also when you should have a vet do x-rays or an ultrasound to check how many puppies, size of puppies and general info this can help to tell if there may be any problems with the pregnancy and is essential, come on if you can't afford to take you dog to the vet you don't deserve one. It is an essential element of responsible dog ownership.

RE: Pregnancy help | ||

I have an Aussie Bulldog that got mated (we think anyway, we never saw) and i was wondering if dogs go through what humans do when they are preggo???? Because my dog has changed, and has gone picky with her food, when before she would eat anything.

They Certainly do go through some of the same hormonal changes. They even will seek out things that they normally wouldn't have eaten before. There appetite increases and sometimes it will decrease too and they will become finicky. I know my shepherd becomes extremely finicky when she's in heat and doesn't want to eat so it's not an exact science or a good way to tell but it's a possibility! I would say go to a vet and have your dog checked out about 4 weeks after you suspect the mating occured. Just Skip going out to eat one night to pay for it. What's more important a steak dinner or your dog? An office visit won't run you more than $25-$50 depending upon the vet. The cost of a good night out to dinner.

Re: Dog Pregnancy | ||

Our huskies had a little "rendevous" on Christmas day. It's hard to tell if the female is pregnant because of not only the way she is acting but the way that our other two dogs are acting.
The other two are both male and acting the way they do when our female is in heat. Sniffing at her and such. The people that I have talked to say that she would take their heads off if she was. Also, if (and god I hope it's an "if") she is pregnant, she would be in her fifth week. Shouldn't she be showing signs of lactating at this point or am I mistaken in this? Any sort of help would be unbelievably appreciated. |
