Whats the best food? |
Lead | |
|
I have been feeding my animals Nutro since I've had them. Science Diet now has the new Natures Best. I think I like the sound of that better. Which one is better? Or are they the same?

what's the best dog food
|
Well it's not Science or Nutro. I have been doing a lot of research and the best dog food (kibble) should contain the following:
1. Human grade, organic, or human-grade hormone and chemical free meats, grains, vegetables, and fruits. If it doesn't state this on the package it means the foods come from diseased, cancerous, and downed animals, and the grains, vegetables, and fruits are not fit for human consumption. Neither Nutro or Science diet contain these. 2. No preservatives, dyes, food color or other chemical preservatives. Again, Science diet contains this (not sure about Nutro, but probably). 3. Single source meat. No by-products. In other words, the first ingredient should be chicken, lamb, beef, or some other single source, but NOT MEAT. Meat can mean horse meat, whale, or any combination. You have no idea. And NO BY-PRODUCTS. By-products can be hoof, beak, feathers, feet, or any animal by-product. Science diet has by-products, I believe Nutro does also. 4. Grains should be easily digestible by your pet. Corn is not a good grain because it is not easily digested. No filler should be used. The best is multiple grains such as barely, brown rice, rye, oatmeal, amaranth, etc. Science diet contains corn. Not sure about Nutro. 5. Product should be baked, not processed. Processing in high heat denatures the protein and can cause allergies. Science and Nutro are processed, not baked. There are about a dozen or so Super Premium Dogs. Some of these are not even sold in pet stores, but in animal feed stores. Here are some that contain all of the above in no special order. Wellness Solid Gold Canidae Best in Show Precise Eagle Pack Flint River Wyosong There are more. You need to do your research. Also, some of these work better in some dogs than others. For example, some have a higher fat content and may not be suitable for your potato couch pet. Remember, variety is best. Don't just feed one food. And if you can, adding raw organic dogfood to the kibble (at least 1/2 the diet) is best. Hope this helps. Natures Best is somewhat improved over regular Science Diet, but it still does not contain human-grade ingredients, it is still processed not baked, and I believe corn is still in the product. |

If you live near a Pet Valu they have a great food call performatrin. It comes in three size formulas. I highly recommend it. I have been breeding for 7 years and thats what we've been using.

Best Dog Food | ||
|
I work at a vet clinic as well as a pet store.
Pet Valu to be specific. I have found that the best dog food really depends on your dog. I don't think anyone knows what is THE BEST. There is so much conflict about THE BEST. I have found that many dogs do VERY WELL on Performatrin breed specific and it is not expensive. Also for the changing dog food for variety with research as well along with personal results I have found it not to be very good. It is such a shock to many dogs systems and they end up getting sick. If you find a brand of dog found that your dog likes, that you could pay for and that is settling well with the dogs stomach STICK TO IT !!! |

nutro is better than science diet
|
I have used both nutro and natures best and have found that nutro is way better than science diet. However, my dogs have done much better with foods like canidae and wellness. So nutro is a fair food but in my opinion science diet is not worth the money.

Raw meat | ||
|
I think the best diet to feed is a raw diet mixed with a timber wolf organics dog food of choice. After all... before we feed dry kibble dogs ate raw meat and wolves out in the wild eat raw meat. It actually seems to increase the muscle tone, the skin and the coat on dogs.

Nutro and Science Diet | ||
|
It's sad to say but my friend was feeding her 5 year old perfectly healthy dog Ol'Roy Original and then someone told her to start feeding Nutro. So she tried it She gradually mixed it in with Ol'Roy and fed Nutro for about 2 weeks everyday her dog started to slow down. Sadly, it died. So I do not recommend Nutro. Science Diet I do not no anything about.
